![]() ![]() But DEVONThink does keep the primary database on the Mac, which is what I want. And it doesn't have a sync'd cloud database or web access, although it can sync some things to a simpler iOS version. I've been looking at DEVONThink, but it lacks a number of Evernote features I have come to love. I've been happy with it that way in Evernote since 2008. In fact, I'd say it is THE most important feature to me. Having access to all my notes while not connected to the internet is very important to me. I'll keep using Evernote Legacy until I find an alternative program that keeps my notes and attachments in a complete database on my Mac. It is not clear if the new Mac 10.3.7 version will even create or edit notes while the Mac is offline. The new Evernote version is designed around the cloud database being the primary one (and the only complete one). I really want my primary Evernote database to be on my Mac with only a Sync copy in the cloud. I looked at my Evernote database folder on my Mac and I have 11,000 notes taking up 15GB. And to have the File-> Sync and the File-> Save menu choices again. It was SOOOO nice to see the spinning "sync" button again. ![]() My local Mac database is where it was supposed to be and it updated quickly. Thanks again to both of you I was able to download and set up Evernote Legacy. Is it no longer possible to use Evernote on the Mac offline? Or is there some trick to getting it to start up and allow creation of a new note, view the notes list screen, etc.? I realize that I can use Evernote Web and Evernote iOS, but Evernote Mac (the native Mac version) is my main use and very important. This buggy behavior of the Mac app is very troubling. I do have a lot of notes (11,000) and have been a Premium Evernote user since 2008. I'll leave the Evernote Mac app open for an hour or two to see what happens (that was suggested elsewhere). But 2 individual notes screens are open and editable. When I turned WiFi back on, I restarted Evernote on the Mac. It brought up a completely blank window as well. I tried to use the File->New Note to create a new note. When I started Evernote while the Mac was offline, the main screen came up completely blank (just a window frame with absolutely nothing in it). In an attempt to see what might change in those folders (without changing anything), I turned of my Mac WiFi and tried to use Evernote offline. I found the folder (thanks, It contains lots of subfolders and is clearly not intended for use by users. But you can still buy it directly from the developer for a one-time fee starting at $15, and it’s also available for subscribers to SetApp.Thanks to both of you, menu options are different and there are fewer of them in Evernote 10.3.7 on Mac. On the Mac App Store, TripMode is a $12/year subscription. More interesting still is that, now that there’s an Apple-blessed framework, TripMode qualifies for the Mac App Store! It’s quite a change. It’s interesting to see how Apple’s changes in Big Sur have enabled the new version of TripMode to use an Apple-blessed extensions framework, rather than the kernel extension previously required. It lets you control how your Mac uses data, which is vitally important if you use slow or metered networks. TripMode has long been one of my favorite Mac utilities. For users, it’s a safer way to filter your network traffic. ![]() TripMode 3 is entirely based on these Network Extensions. ![]() This policy has changed since the newest Network Extensions framework was made available in Big Sur. Sandboxing rules made it clear that apps like TripMode, that require deep integration with the system to work, were not allowed. Before macOS Big Sur came out, Apple didn’t allow network filtering apps on the Mac App Store. TripMode was released almost 6 years ago, after all. What you may not know is why TripMode wasn’t available on the Mac App Store. ![]()

In it, I share my favorite go-to editing apps with you. This is truly a key step to keeping your feed cohesive, so make sure your editing style itself is cohesive.Ī quick side note: if learning more about editing your photos from your phone interests you, check out my PDF “My Four Favorite Editing Apps”. By this I mean you’re making the same adjustments every time while editing, you’re using the same Instagram filters, or (if you’re using Lightroom), you’re using the same preset on all your photos. However you choose to use your favorite editing apps, make sure you’re using them in a consistent way. The next tip I'm going to share with you isn’t about one app in particular, but rather how you use all your apps. So give it a try the next time you have a hue that is throwing off the cohesiveness of your Instagram feed. It’s super quick and definitely worth testing out - it’s personally helped me out many times. Just a warning, this type of quick “hue removal edit” only works if it doesn’t affect the other hues in the photo. Slide the “saturation” to the left until it removes the off-brand hue. This can also help remove tints if your whites are looking too blue or another color that isn’t white. If you’ve noticed a color that’s totally off brand, here’s how to remove it: Lightroom Mobile is great when you want to remove an off brand hue that’s preventing a photo from working with your on brand colors. What happens if you go to drop your images in Planoly and you notice an off-brand color that isn’t going to work for your feed, or your editing isn’t quite as consistent as you were hoping? Check out this next app. Just to be clear, you don’t want to post photos on Instagram that you found on Pinterest ( there would definitely be a copyright issue with those photos), the idea is just to have it as a reference for yourself to make sure you’re on track with your brand’s cohesive aesthetic. This makes it incredibly easy and convenient to be sure everything “vibes” with my intended look before posting. I screenshot and drop in at least 9 of the photos or graphics I found on Pinterest to create a rough “hidden” template of my Instagram grid that only I can see. Either way, it’s synced and shows the same planned feed, which is super helpful if you’re switching back and forth between the two.Ī little behind-the-scenes trick I use is combining Planoly and Pinterest together. ![]() But, I also love that you can upload photos from your desktop or your phone with their mobile app. What I love most about Planoly is that it’s free. It’s super easy to drag and drop, and rearrange your photos until you like how it looks. Planoly is an amazing app that can help you plan the look of your Instagram feed. The next app that you’ll want to use to create a cohesive Instagram feed is one of my favorites: Planoly. ![]() If they don’t flow well, skip that photo and pick a photo that does flow with your board. Before you post your next photo on Instagram, compare the photo you're considering posting with the photos you pinned on your Pinterest board. They should be pretty easy to spot, and removing them will leave you with a collage to use as a guidepost for your brand’s cohesive style. When an hour of pinning is up, take a look at your board to remove any photos that stand out as not fitting in with the other photos. ![]() Go crazy with it! The more you can mix and match, the more you’ll come up with a unique, personalized aesthetic, instead of a copy of another brand or artist. To do this, pin various types of photos, like landscapes, portraits, architecture, or objects, even if those aren’t the type of photos you usually feature. Just make sure you find photos from multiple sources so you’ll come up with a collage that’s original to you and not just a replica of someone else’s brand. To get started, spend an hour or so pinning everything and anything you’re drawn to, when it comes to your brand. For the purposes of today’s topic, we’re going to use the Pinterest app to help you find your brand’s style. It’s a great resource for building a visual aesthetic, and figuring out what kinds of things fit, and what do not. Now that you understand the idea, let’s talk about what apps are going to help get you there. If the idea of a cohesive feed is still not clicking, take a look at this blog post where I go into much more depth on not just what a cohesive feed is, but also how to create it: “3 Keys to Make Your Brand’s Instagram Look Cohesive” ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It's suggested that you delete the combat log after you finish uploading them to avoid this issue, and the Warcraft Logs client will offer a prompt to do so after successfully creating any new report.
